Why You Need Large Frame Art In Your Space

Every room should have a focal point to which your eye will automatically be attracted. Large wall art can turn a blank wall into a dynamic space. A home without large wall art can give off a sense of incompleteness and emptiness. Think of a beautiful fireplace, flat screen TV, or a sculpture; large frame wall art can give the same design effect. Large pieces like this add character to your space and tie a room together. If you only hang one piece of oversized art on a wall, ensure it is large enough to make an impact. The right wall art will make your home something you are proud to share.

A room that doesn’t have a lot of personality is a perfect room for large frame wall art. For example, the hallway, dining room, and office area are ideal for adding a personal touch. Whether you love the mountains or prefer the beach, bring these elements into your art at home and express your character. Another reason to have large wall art is the contrast and texture it gives space, especially if your walls are the same color and your flooring has the same consistency throughout. Extra large wall art does this by uplifting the walls’ flat surface. Large framed art dresses the walls and makes the room feel complete. If you create a photo gallery wall, ensure a sizeable framed photo is your centerpiece. You can then hang smaller pictures around the larger structure. Photo gallery walls are a great way to display your favorite prints while giving the room visual interest.

Tools You Need For Making Large Frame Wall Art

Knowing that you built the frame that displays a piece of art in your home will be very rewarding and will create an exciting story for your guests. One nice thing about building your own framed art is deciding how large it will be. Learning how to construct your frame can save you money. Making a large frame by hand is much less expensive than purchasing one or having your art professionally framed. Ready-made frames can be less pricey too, but finding the right size for your large art can be difficult. Depending on how detailed you want your frame to be will determine the tools you need. Your local home improvement store or hardware store will have everything you need to make your large frame. You can check out second-hand thrift stores for some tools. You can also purchase everything you need in a package from specific retailers. They have custom frame kits for posters, prints, and art. The home improvement store will also cut your materials for you. Some necessary tools are a saw, sander, clamps, glue, paintbrush, joiners, staple gun, measuring tape, pencil, cardboard or foam board, and mat cutters. However, some frames may only require a screwdriver. You must decide if you want to paint or stain the frame. By doing this, you will add color to any neutral walls. You will need sandpaper to sand the sharp edges of the sides of the wood. Most importantly, don’t forget the picture hangers and hammer.

Large Frame Wall Art: Step By Step

You want to frame your artwork mainly because you have total control over the process and the outcome. The result will be a gorgeous picture frame you have made to hang in your home or give as a gift.

Now let’s get started. First, measure your large custom print or photo. This number will determine the size of your backing and the finished frame. Measure all four sides of the image and add 24 inches to that number so you know how much molding to buy. Mark the molding so you can cut it for the four sides. Add 3 inches to each side for the cuts. Next, it’s time to make your cuts at a 45-degree angle. Paint or stain the molding, sand it, and glue it to the backing. Use the clamps to hold the frame together while it dries overnight. Staple the corners to secure everything in place and add the picture hanger now it’s time to make the cardboard or foam board backing. It would be best if you cut the board to the dimensions of your print. Put the photo onto the board, and then put the frame on top of the image. Staple the board to the edge, and you’re ready to hang it.

Now that you know how to make your large frame wall art, here are some tips on the size the art should be and how you should hang the art. A good rule of thumb for extra large frame wall art is that it should take up two-thirds or three-fourths of the wall. For example, if you are hanging art over a sofa, the art should be three-fourths of the sofa’s width. It should also hang about 5-8 inches from the top of the back of the couch. The best height for artwork is eye level or about 5 feet from the floor to the center of the framed art.
