A STYLISH START TO SPRING: YOUR GUIDE TO DECORATING FOR SPRING

SPRING FEVER! As soon as the winter holidays are over, I tend to get spring fever immediately.  The days seem to look brighter, the flowers are beginning to bloom, and everyone seems a little happier.  Decorating for spring is a fantastic way to bring the freshness and vibrancy of the season into your home.  This guide will help you create a spring-inspired atmosphere in your home.

Embrace The Power Of Color

Spring is the season of renewal, and what better way to reflect that in your home than with fresh and uplifting colors? Think soft pastels, light greens, blues, pinks, and sunny yellows. These shades will bring a sense of calmness and freshness to your home.

Here are some ways you can add in some springtime to your rooms.  Add vibrant colors to your living room seating area with lightweight throw blankets and pillows.  Brighten up your kitchen by putting colorful chair cushions on your dining chairs, hanging lightweight flowing curtains, or purchasing some fun, playful dishware.  Make a statement with your entryway with a cheerful yellow rug or accessory.  Consider bringing in shades of soft blue to your bedroom for a calming atmosphere.   Choose bedding, curtains, or accent pieces in sky blue or aqua, staying with the relaxing theme. Create a spa-like feel for your bathroom with blue and white towels, shower curtains, and decorative items.  If you are feeling adventurous, add a piece of furniture or artwork in a bold spring color and let that become a focal point in a room.

These items can easily be switched out with the changing seasons, allowing you to keep your space modern and on-trend. Whether it's through throw pillows, curtains, or accent pieces, fill your space with the hues that make you happy.

Bring The Outdoors Inside

Bring in natural elements like twigs, branches, or even driftwood into your decor. Arrange them with fresh flowers, a must for spring decor,  and put them in colorful vases, use them as part of a seasonal centerpiece, or make a wreath for your front door to add a touch of the outdoors into your living spaces. Popular flowers in the spring are tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and cherry blossoms.

Add indoor plants to your rooms. If you don’t have a green thumb, consider low-maintenance or faux plants like snake plants, pothos, or succulents.  Not only do plants improve air quality, but they also can add life to your home. Find stylish plant stands, ceramic pots, or woven baskets to display your potted plants.

Rattan, wicker, and wood materials can add a touch of natural texture and create a perfectly relaxed, farmhouse outdoor-inspired atmosphere.  In these materials, you can find furniture, baskets, frames, trays, and many other decorative items.

Nature-inspired fabric patterns are great for spring. Keep the botanical theme throughout your home with bedding, blankets, cushions, rugs, or wallpaper for a touch of garden beauty. Bring the outside in with garden-themed decor like cute watering cans, fountains, and birdhouses.

Lighter, Brighter Spaces

Out with the heavy and in the light. Put those winter throws and dark curtains away for now.  Change them out for light blankets in spring colors and sheer curtains.  The sheer curtains will not only let more natural light in but also add an airy, inviting feel to your rooms.

Swap out some of your heavy or dark artwork for paintings or prints that represent the season, like blooming flowers, landscapes, or birds. These pieces can become focal points in your rooms.  If you like having multiple pieces of artwork, create a spring-themed gallery wall with a mix of pictures that remind you of the spring season.  Play with different sizes and colors of frames for an eye-catching display.

Mirrors give the illusion of a larger space and enhance the natural light.  Consider adding a mirrored piece of furniture or mirrored decor items to your home.  Like mirrors, metallic accents such as gold, silver, or brass reflect light and add a touch of sophistication.  Consider purchasing metallic frames, light fixtures, or decorative items to brighten an area.

The Scents of The Season

There is nothing like the scent of fresh flowers to remind you of spring.  Place bouquets of flowers like tulips, daffodils and hyacinths throughout your home. The natural fragrance will fill the room with uplifting scents.  Use scented candles and oil diffusers with the scents of spring, like citrus, lavender, rose, and jasmine.  Make your own potpourri with your favorite dried flowers, herbs, and citrus peelings.  Place it in decorative bowls around your home for a refreshing scent.

Create a beautiful dining table centerpiece by mixing seasonal fragrant fruits like lemons, grapefruits, and oranges with fresh flowers and greenery.  Bring the greenery inside by growing your herbs in your kitchen.  Fresh mint, eucalyptus, and basil have great aromas.  Herbal scented candles have a calming effect.

Remember, the key to successful spring decorating is to keep things light, airy, and full of natural elements. Fill your space with things that bring you joy and represent the season's beauty.
